Himachal Bans Leather Shoes in Schools - Sukanya Kadyan

Shimla, Feb 6 (IANS) Students in government schools in Himachal Pradesh have been told not to wear leather shoes because they are not environment friendly.

'Leather shoes have been excluded from the school uniform in all government schools,' Principal Secretary (Education) Shrikant Baldi told IANS. 'Now the students can wear only canvas shoes.'

Himachal Pradesh has over 15,000 primary and higher secondary government schools with a strength of around 10 lakh students.
